KURSIU NERIJA (THE CURONIAN SPIT)
Kursiu Nerija is a natural wonder created by sea, wind and man. It wasn’t by chance that the renowned German geographer Wilhelm von Homboldt wrote in 1809: "the Curonian Spit is so peculiar that if you don’t want your soul to be missing a wonderful impression, you really must see it…" In reality Kursiu Nerija is a narrow peninsula with high sand dunes protected by the National Park, which was designated by the UNESCO as the World Heritage Site. There are four settlements (Nida, Juodkrante, Preila, Pervalka) on the Lithuanian side of Kursiu Nerija, which boast of original architecture, typical to this region. Nida is one of four fishmen’s setllements and most beautiful leisure resort in Lithuania. There you can climb to the Great Dune, where one can admire magnificent views of the Baltic Sea and Kursiu Marios (the Curonian Lagoon), explore etnographic architecture monuments like Fisherman’s house and summerhouse of Thomas Mann, taste freshly smoked fishes caught by local fishermen in Kursiu Marios. Juodkrante is famous for its Hill of Witches, an open-air museum of woodcarvings by folk artists.
Recreation activities on request:
Cycling, hiking, sun & sea bathing, fishing, boating/sailing in the Curonian Lagoon, tasting local dishes, visiting museums.
THE NEMUNAS DELTA
The River Nemunas Delta Regional Park is one of the most interesting places of Lithuania, where you can find quiet and delight. It was founded in 1992, striving to preserve the unique landscape of the delta of the River Nemunas, its natural ecosystems and values of cultural heritage. Rusne, Minge and Vente are very unique old fishmen’s settlements in the Regional Park. Minge village might be called the VENICE of Lithuania, as the houses are built on both sides of the River Minija, which serves as a street for the residents. Vente is the place, where the North Atlantic bird migratory route leads through. Thousands of birds each spring and autumn get trapped into gigantic nets of Vente Ornithological Station, where they are caught and ringed. Old lighthouse and fantastic views of the Curonian Lagoon and distant dunes of Nida will add some romantic flavour in the Vente Cape.
Recreation activities on request:

Lake Plateliai is the most beautiful and biggest of them and one of the clearest lakes in Lithuania. The National Park is famous for its natural values as well as for its rich and valuable cultural heritage. The people of this area, called Zemaiciai, have preserved their dialect, customs and traits of character, buildings and original small architecture. This can be seen in Plateliai and Berzoras villages as well as in Zemaiciu Kalvarija borough famous for its Church Festivals.
